The concrete is warm.
A man is swinging a woman by her feet,
breaking her against a pole.
She sighs calmly
and waits for the fit to end.
Somewhere around the corner,
a small dog dry humps a leg.

To me this is about a woman being battered emotionally by a man but not really having the energy to do more than just wait for this episode to past. The first and last lines set the mood- it is a normal, average day in America. It seems to say "This happens all the time." A tragic thought, but true.
