The king of toads
waits for her
in a pond
of grieving mushrooms.

She croaks
from beneath the muck.

I hope it is a good muck!

That's an interesting take on the prompt - rather sad, but with a glimmer of hope?

Grieving mushrooms. I never thought about that, not for a minute, never before. Nice!

gautami - I had never thought of the possibility of a good muck. the word doesn't represent goodness very well :)

paris - yeah i wasn't really sure that it fit the prompt, but the prompt is what sparked me to write it.

awareness - i think it's great that you got bubbling out of that... that word was in the original unedited poem, but was taken out because I didn't like how the word sounded, although I liked the image. good to know its still resides in the poem somewhere

tumblewords - yeah a little weird I guess, huh?

Brian,
I thought you were in Europe?

Too often the king of Toads has ruled our world.
Surrounded by all his mushrooming toadies they raised the muck level to higher and higher level...no wonder she croaked. ;)

Oh, I like this. Great take on the prompt. So much in so few words.
